lash extensions: classic lash extensions, hybrid lash extensions, volume lash extensions and mega volume lash extensions. I do not work over other lash techs work.
Lash extensions are synthetic individual lashes varying in length and weight, which are applied to the natural lash. Care is taken to ensure the length and weight of the extension is no more than the natural lash can handle.
Styles can be customized in many different way including cat eye (longer lengths on the ends) and doll eye (longer lengths over the pupil) as well as textured to look spikey and wispy (think Kardashian or stip lash look) or fluffy and uniform.
Extensions can range from super natural with a single extensions applied to each natural lash up to very full and dramatic with up to 15 extensions per lash. The amount of extensions each lash can hold is calculated by a mathematical equation which takes each natural lash into account as well as the length of the extension I plan to use and the diameter of that lash.
Each natural lash is meticulously isolated ensuring no lashes are stuck together. This is important as each natural lash grows at a different rate and if lashes are clumped together, as one lash grows it can rip the other attached natural lash from the root.
Fills are required every 2-3 weeks to maintain desired look. Aftercare is extremely important to ensure longevity of your lashes!
**It is important to note here that I book up 3-4 weeks in advance so if you are booking a full set it is recommended to go ahead and book your fill as well as there may not be an opening if you wait until your appointment.
Volume lashes are a technique which incorporates 2-6 smaller diameter, lighter weight lash extensions into a tiny volume 'fan' which will be placed on each individual natural lash. The number of lashes in each fan will vary depending on the look you want as well as how much weight each natural lash can hold.
Classic Lash Extensions are a larger diameter lash extensions meant to be used as singles. These lashes will be applied one extensions to one natural lash for a natural look that provides a bit more length. This is the most natural look
Hybrid lashes is a combination lash set which combines single, large diameter classic lashes with small volume fans for a unique, textured look. This set can still look natural but provide a bit of added volume and length.
Mega Volume Lashes
Mega volume is an advanced volume technique which applies 6-15 volume fans to an individual natural lash. This is the fullest look and shorter lengths are recommended to maintain the health of the natural lash.
Before Your Appointment
I use super sharp tweezers and separating lashes is a very delicate procedure. You must stay completely still for the treatment. Constant fidgeting will make it difficult for me to do my job and make the appointment take longer.
-I suggest no caffeine before the appointment as this can make it difficult for you to relax.
-Your lashes cannot get wet for 24 hours please workout, shower etc before your appointment!
-A tip to keep you relaxed is bring headphones and listen to music during your treatment.
-Avoid face creams and mascara before appointment
After Your Appiontment
-No moisture of any kind for the first 24 hours following an appointment
-Wash your lashes 2-3 times a week.
-Brush them out once they are dry.
-face creams with glycol or glycerin
-used waterproof mascara before appointment
-foundation or concealers around the eyes migrating
-menstrual cycle (2-3 days before and after menstruation, there is a restructuring of hormones and hormones play a huge role in lash retention)
-increased tears for various reasons.
-excessively oily skin and lashes
-touching lashes too frequently
-sleeping face down on the pillow
Frequently asked questions
Why are eyelash extensions more expensive than the extensions at a nail salon?
Those are NOT eyelash extensions. If you get a full set in less than an hour they are more than likely using cluster lashes. These lashes are glued to multiple natural lashes. The problem with this is that each lash grows at a different pace. If a cluster is glued to 4 natural lashes, the slower growing lashes will be ripped from the root as the quicker lashes grow out resulting in damage that could be permanent.
How long do they last?
Lash extensions are are required to be filled every 2-3 weeks. If you get a set and do not plan to have them filled your set will last about a month. However, be aware that due to the natural lash growth the set will not be FULL for that amount of time. Typically gaps will begin to be visible around the 2-3 week mark.
I have heard extensions ruin your lashes.
Wrong! Improper aftercare or an inexperienced lash tech ruins your lashes. I take special care to not only ensure your natural lashes are isolated to prevent them sticking together, but to also never use a lash that is heavier than your natural lash can handle. That means that if you have a baby lash next to a mature lash, I will be using different lenghts/weights on each of them to ensure each individual looks its best and has the best chance to continue to grow uninhibited.
Can I remove my lashes mysefl?
I highely discourage this. Pulling on the extensions will not only cause your natural lashes to break off but could permanently damage your natural lashes. If you need removal I offer free removal to my lash clients. It takes no time and will ensure your lashes are healthy!
Why arent your mega volume a big and full as some I see online?
I am a stickler for doing things properly. I will never apply lash extensions that the natural lash is unable to hold without damage. A lot of sets you will see on social media are entirely too heavy for the natural lash and could permanently damage the folicle. I have had clients come to me from other lash techs who were doing improper sets and the clients natural lashes were very very short and thin resulting in needing to use much shorter and less dense lashes in order to allow the lashes to regrow.
Can I still use mascara?
100% No. Mascara is nearly impossible to fully remove from the lash extensions. If you are pushing your fill appointments out too far and have visible gaps that require mascara, you are damaging the extensions you still have. Most times I will need to remove the surviving extensions because the mascara clumps onto them creating a thick cluster instead of a nice delicate fan of lashes. Book your fills accordingly!
How long does the appointment take?
A full set ranges from 1.5-2.5 hourse. This will depend on not only the technique you request but also the amount of natural lashes you have!
Why does a fill appointment take almost as long as a full set?
At the fill appointment I will begin with cleansing and prepping the lashes. Then I must remove the extensions that have grown out and have a large gap that the base of the lid due to natural lash growth. This can take some time. After this I can proceed to apply new extensions to the new growth.
Why do I lose more lashes during a certain time of the year?
Typically in the fall is when most people will have quicker lash turn over. This could mean you may need fills more frequently and may not necessarily mean you are doing something wrong. However, spring effects some as well.
Are there any restrictions I should be aware of?
For the first 24 hours following a fill or full set:
Can I get an eye infection?
The only reason anyone with lash extensions will get an infection in improper aftercare. You will have a foreign object on your eye which can trap oil, dirt and debree from the environment and your daily lifestyle. You MUST ensure you are keeping them clean and following proper aftercare.
What is the maintenance like?
Fills are needed every 2-3 weeks.
What if you are unable to fit me in for my fill?
It is your responsibility to ensure your fill appointments are booked in a timely manner. I am typically booked a month in advance and although I will try my best, I am unable to just "squeeze" in an hour and a half appointment. When booking a full set I recommend booking your fill appointments as well. If you are not booked and more than 3 weeks has passed please be advised that your fill appointment may carry an extra charge to compensate for the extra product and work that will be needed.
Do you use real mink?
Absolutely NOT! I use purely sythetic lashes!
