Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! As you embark on this exciting journey, it's essential to ensure that your skin is as radiant and flawless as your love story to achieve that coveted bridal glow. Too many time, I find that brides think its all about what the makeup can do and unfortunately there is only so much that makeup can actually do. The truth is, a well-thought-out skincare routine is your secret weapon to achieving that coveted bridal glow. In this post, we'll guide you through the steps to set up a personalized skincare routine, starting with a visit to the esthetician.

Step 1: Consultation with an Esthetician

Before diving into any skincare routine, it's crucial to consult with a professional esthetician. They can assess your skin type, identify specific concerns, and recommend a tailored plan to address your unique needs. An esthetician will consider factors such as skin tone, texture, and any existing issues like acne, dryness, or sensitivity. This initial consultation sets the foundation for a customized skincare journey. Sometimes, trying to identify your skin type and concerns can be detrimental. I can't count the number of brides I have had in my chair who swear they have super oily skin when the fact is they have extremely dehydrated skin and have destroyed their skins barrier with the wrong cleansers that are too harsh for their skin type and over exfoliating. This results in the body going overboard with oil production trying to repair and hydrate the skin.

Step 2: Pre-Wedding Prep – The Early Days

Ideally, start your skincare routine at least a year before your big day. This allows ample time for your skin to adapt to new products and treatments. Your esthetician may recommend a series of facials, peels, or microdermabrasion sessions to address specific concerns and enhance your skin's overall health.

Step 3: Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize – The Basics

A simple yet effective daily skincare routine involves cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. Choose a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type, follow up with a toner to balance the pH levels, and finish with a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. Your esthetician will guide you in selecting products that align with your skin's needs.

Step 4: Targeted Treatments – Addressing Specific Concerns

If you have specific skin concerns like dark spots, fine lines, or uneven texture, your esthetician may recommend targeted treatments such as serums or masks. Incorporate these into your routine to address individual issues and enhance your skin's natural radiance.

Step 5: Sunscreen – Your Skin's Best Friend

Regardless of the season, sunscreen is non-negotiable. Protect your skin from harmful UV rays by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily. This simple step not only safeguards your skin but also preserves the results of any treatments you undergo.

Step 6: Final Preparations – The Month Leading Up to the Wedding

As your wedding day approaches, schedule a final consultation with your esthetician to ensure your skincare routine is on track. They may recommend a hydrating facial or a gentle exfoliation treatment to guarantee that your skin is at its absolute best.

Bonus Tips:

  • Dermaplaning is a wonderful treatment for your pre wedding prep since it exfoliates and removes vellus hair which can sometimes make makeup look clumpy and makes the skin look dull.

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

  • Get enough sleep to allow your skin to rejuvenate.

  • Consider your diet – incorporating fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants can positively impact your skin's appearance.

  • Consider lash extensions or a lash lift and tint if you are going on a honeymoon immediately after.

Remember, your wedding day is about celebrating love, and feeling confident in your own skin enhances that joy. With a personalized skincare routine guided by a skilled esthetician, you'll be well on your way to achieving a radiant, picture-perfect canvas for your special day.

Wishing you a beautiful journey to the altar!

Lashes: Should I get extensions or a lash lift?

One of my favorite things to educate my clients on is the difference between lash extensions and a lash lift and tint. I am a firm believer that extensions are not for everyone. Curious to know which
